Fare thee well, to London town!

We bid my sister a fond farewell from Glasgow on her adventure to The Big Smoke last night with a good old fashioned London eve: bangers and mash (that's sausages and mashed potatoes, in case you were wondering), onion gravy (made from scratch by an actual Londoner), jellied eels (jelly snakes in jelly with a dash of old Martini that tasted like pencil sharpenings), and an array of London landmarks; not so Big Ben, those soldiers with the good hats and Peggy Mitchell, obviously. It was a jolly eve, and there was not a dry eye in the house (no-one cried).

Fare thee well! To le Big Smoke!

Apparently we are in the eye of a 'hurricane' in dear old Glasgow, although I can't really see how the weather differs from any other day we've had since the end of summer (4 days at Easter).

Most of our day was spent inside, beginning with looking out of the window, listening to Bollywood classics and playing with a model train set, and ending with a dance to Knees Up Mother Brown. We were worried we had slightly lost our minds, but thankfully it turns out it was a full moon last night, and all the madness was completely explained.

Exciting birthday times.

Yesterday was my friend Jasper's birthday. He is an avid Charles and Diana memorabilia collector and secret taxidermist (don't look in his freezer). I've been thinking a lot about the Queen's corgis and their different personalities and such, apparently over the years she's had 30, and they all have jolly names like Monty, Linnet and..Susan. I made the card based on the coronation cups that fill my kitchen, hopefully he enjoyed it! I had also promised him a box of doughnuts, but in the end I shamefully forgot. Sorry pal!

Hello.

There seems to be a lot of pressure to put up something splendid as your first post, so I decided to ignore that and take a picture of my desk. I am currently spending quite a lot of time here, 'working' of course (and/or writing lists, watching iplayer, sharpening pencils etc etc). So yes, my fantastic desk, laden with many good and excellent things. Enjoy.
